Okay I'll try to dispell myths: 1. Yes you need to be on a birth control that is not a pill. 2. Muscle loss will happen no matter what if you lose weight naturally. You need to eat lots of protein. 3. Kidney issues or pancreas will happen if not hydrated enough and drinking your electrolytes. Gastro issues need to be monitored make sure you are pooping people everyday. Dont let it go months. 4. It only affects food hormornes not your women hormones. 5. It can help anxiety some people say this and trials are being studied on it. 6. Yes you can get off the medication. I would say people still need to heal their food relationships therapy etc. 7. Also being diabetic and obesity puts you at higher risks for complications so that puts some of the side effects are higher. Any other questions please ask!

Ive been on MJ for almost 8 months, I've lost 51lbs, got off all my meds and my bp and a1c is in control. No side effects they are all managed. I have maybe 5-10lbs and I'll be going into maintenance. I eat higher protein, veggies, smaller carbs and I weight lift 3x week. I had trouble losing for years but had no clue my blood sugar was so out of control. And yes people who lose weight naturally, or surgery, or meds end up gaining back if they haven't healed their relationship with food. Therapy goes hand in hand with these tools. The food noise is just so beautiful. Silence. It feels like freedom. I went from 38% body fat to 24% my goal is 18-20%.

Aw, that's really too bad, because you don't know if something will work for you or not unless you try it. I have a feeling, and correct me if I'm wrong here, but there seems to be a lot self-sabotage talk here where you may feel you do not truly deserve to get fit the semaglutide way, so you're denying yourself what you know deep down will actually jumpstart things and progress to a point that perhaps you have never seen in your life before. And so what if you have to take it for the rest of your life? Do you shame diabetics for taking insulin? Or epileptics for taking anti-seizure meds? No, you don't. Chronic obesity is just like any other disease, and it seems they've finally found a medication that helps! Why is accepting help considered a negative when it comes to this particular medication? It makes no sense to me. All people deserve to be healthier, and if this assists those who have struggled for a lifetime with their weight, that's amazing!

It seems like you're maybe overthinking this, and that's normal for someone who suffers from anxiety. It's interesting that everyone is talking about the potential side effects of this medication when medications we take all the time have just as severe side effects. Read the potential side effects of medications like Tylenol, Advil, NyQuil, Reactine - They're pretty gnarly, yet most of us don't bat an eye! Bea mentioned that Wegovy has been on the market for 18 years! That's a pretty long track record, so imo I would go with that and follow the instructions of titrating SLOWLY (Many people experience crazy side effects because they titrate too fast too soon). While taking the medication, eat well and continue strength training to keep your muscle mass. People associate this medication with some sort of moral issue, as if people are failures if they take it. There are so many factors related to one being chronically overweight. Would you shame someone who has depression or diabetes for taking medication every day for the rest of their life? No, you wouldn't because they NEED it to help with their illness, so why feel shameful to take semaglutide for life? If it helps with your illness of chronic obesity, then why would you NOT take it continuously? Also, if being overweight is a cause of anxiety and stress for you, why not tick one thing off your list that you no longer have to worry about. IF you experience side effects, like with any other medication, they subside - You just have to be patient and ride the wave for a bit until they go away; and they WILL go away. This seems like a no brainer. Try it for a bit and if you don't like it, you can always go off of it. No risk, no reward.

GLP-1 are really a great tool for weight loss. Don’t let outside voices sway you one way or another. It is a personal decision. As provider, my best advice is to please do not choose an online option to prescribe. There are some very real adverse side effects that really should be monitored closely by a provider you trust. Best wishes ❤

I'm not on those medications for the same reason as you. I know how to lose the weight and I really wouldn't want to be on this medication for the rest of my life. I feel like I would go on it, lose the weight, stop the medication and gain the weight back again. Or I can learn to lose weight and keep it off without the medication and side effects. I already have the lose weight part down, I just need to figure out how to keep it off. For example, from January to early April of this year, I ate 1500 calories a day and went for a 30 minute walk after supper each night. I went from 225 to 197. I have been on vacation with my friends for the past 3 weeks and I'm pretty sure I've gained it all back. It will probably take another 4 months to lose what I've gained on vacation and then I'll gain it all back again when I go on vacation with my parents to Alaska for 2 weeks in September. If I could learn to control myself on vacation instead of going crazy with the fast food, then I could probably get to a healthy weight and maintain it long term. I'm honestly not sure how the medication could even help me. I don't think about food all the time, especially when I'm at home. I find it pretty easy to stay under 1500 calories a day most days.

Bea- I highly recommend looking into a local weight loss clinic. I have battled my binge eating disorder for ELEVEN YEARS. It started at the very beginning of my grad school and I never fully tackled it. I could lose a bit here and there and I lost about 40 with keto once. But like everything else I tried, it wasn’t sustainable. No matter what I did it was like something was constantly pressing a hypothetical ‘pedal’ to the floor driving me to eat. After I had two kids and several life changes, it got even worse. I could NOT get it under control. So, I finally decided to go to a local weight loss clinic. The first thing I started was an appetite suppressant. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was like night and day. For the first time in YEARS, I could FINALLY feel my food drive ‘let off the gas.’ At the risk of sounding like a psycho, I finally heard silence about food. But I think you get it. The food noise you mentioned. Speaking from my doctorate in Neuroscience, it blows my mind that this isn’t discussed more when talking about treatments for eating disorders. We binge eat because we have constant signals in our brains telling us to do so. It’s the leptin-ghrelin signaling pathway. Appetite suppressants help to turn that signal down and allow you to have more natural and controlled feelings about food. I’ve had incredible results. I did eventually add semaglutide too because I was curious about the effects like feeling full sooner and longer. It does definitely work for that purpose. I haven’t had any adverse side effects. But if I’m being honest, I think the appetite suppressant is much more important for me. I can absolutely tell when it’s time to take it again. The food noise starts to get louder again. Then I take it, and the volume turns down. Like I said, it’s night and day. It gives me the control back and I can make much better food decisions with realistic portions. 😂 So, with all of that being said, you are not alone in feeling like you have ‘failed’ over and over. I battled for ELEVEN years until I finally accepted that I will not beat this or control this without help. I tried EVERYTHING. But my brain was working against me. It’s similar to someone with an autoimmune disorder. Their immune systems fight against themselves. Nothing they read in a book or discuss in therapy or meditate about or journal about is going to work to change that. Not that any of those are bad but they will not help the immune system stop attacking itself. Sometimes you just need medicine. So I went to the clinic and the doctor gave me a prescription. I encourage you to start there. Especially if you’re wary about semaglutide.

I got to try Saxenda for a few weeks and it was miraculous. The constant thoughts about food just ✨poof✨ disappeared. It made being able to stick to a sensible diet plan totally doable. Then my insurance wouldn’t cover it and it’s way too expensive to pay for out of pocket. If I could afford it, I would 100% get on some medication for it. The food noise is so hard

Dude, I went from a restrictive disorder to thinking about food/overeating ALL the time -- BED was way harder for me personally to live with. You're uncomfortable, can't stop thinking about food, people don't complement you for how it makes you look, etc. Even without reaching the overweight category, people were ruthless. I can't imagine how much harder being online can make it. Recovering is a rollercoaster, but over all you're always making more progress than you think you are. You are a comfort and encouragement to so many people, and I think you're great! :) The reality is that you are changing who you are mentally and emotionally. Physical changes may take another 10 years to show like you would like them to, but if you are gentle, patient, and consistent with yourself, you will get to a comfortable, happy place one day -- and you will have yourself to thank for it. :) We are rooting you on, each fighting our own demons alongside you. Thank you for sharing with us Bea! <3

The food noise definitely went away for me, and it is amazing to feel normal for a while. Ive lost 40 pounds so far in about 8 months. But i also am one of the ones who had a severe gastrointestinal reaction if i went past a certain amount. Unfortunately for me, that amount was most effective in dealing with the food noise. I am the only one I know who has that reaction. I know 5 other people taking it. I can still take it at a lower dosage and it is somewhat effective in helping but not fully effective for me. I am currently trying to decide if i want to keep taking it or juat toughing it out with ALL the food noise. That's the hardest part for me.

I got so desperate at a low point in my life I ended up taking the Ozempic, Thankfully I didn’t get any negative side affects. I lost 30 pounds in around 3 months. I believe it is a great kick starter for those who like myself love food more than other things but long term it’s not ideal. I’ve been off of it since December 23’ and have gained around 10 pounds which isn’t to bad BUT I’m back to being hungry and making poor choices. So yes it’s a great tool but ultimately it’s up to you to continue making better choices. Overall your amazing B and don’t ever feel like things can’t change because GOD can change anything & anyone ♥️ btw your my favorite RUclipsr 🫶🏼

I got a gastric sleeve done about a year and half ago. Since then I lost 45-50 lbs, got rid of my GERD , back pain, knee pain, and had a baby! 100% would have the gastric sleeve done again. The reason I did not do ozempic - simple. You must keep taking it. My body is back to normal and I can eat whatever I want. Just not a lot and not too much. My body was fine to have a baby and I recommend it to my friends and family.

Definitely feel you on the side effects. I have coeliac and IBS so anything that has stomach issues as the main side effect I just try to avoid. It's so frustrating to say that to the doctor though because they just never believe me. Your are beautiful, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Thank you for continually sharing your journey with us. Remember, lasting change takes time, so stay committed to your workout routine and mindful eating habits; progress will follow. It’s disheartening to see the challenges posed by our environment, where unhealthy food options are readily available and sedentary lifestyles are the norm, leading to widespread struggles. It’s concerning that some sectors promote quick-fix solutions with potentially harmful side effects. Redirecting resources toward better nutritional education and fostering healthier lifestyles for all would be a positive step. In an ideal world, our well-being would take precedence over profit.

I really struggle with being on Ozempic. I'm diabetic and it's heavily helped lower my A1C my 4 points in a year, but the side eyes I get when people find out I 'm on it. It has helped me lose about 200 pounds by nearly taking away my appetite, and if you aren't doing some weight training obvs you're gonna lose muscle mass. But for me I've had a lot of digestive side effects and autonomic dysfunctions. I honestly cannot tell you whether or not it's a good medicine is really individual results. It's great for the blood sugar though, at least in my experience.

Thank you for bringing up the risk of thyroid cancer. I have thyroid cancer (as well as a family history) and it is currently incurable as it seems. I no longer have my thyroid and have been fighting this cancer for over a year. I also have PCOS, sleep apnea, high cortisol (possible Cushing’s), endometriosis + adenomyosis, multiple liver tumours, possible autoimmune and neurological disorder and many other health issues that contribute to my weight gain. I gained 30+kg from psych meds too. I was born disabled with spina bifida so I can’t exercise like abled bodied people can. I deal with chronic fatigue and chronic pain every day. I already eat healthy and watch calories. I am not trying to make excuses about my weight, but it isn’t as simple as calories in calories out for some. ❤
